Lack of follow-up and treatment

In 2014 David Gazzard acted for the family of a 63 year old lady who died from advanced hepatocellular carcinoma following treatment at the defendant hospital.  Despite noting a rise in the client’s AFP levels (one of the key markers in a blood test) the hospital was slow to organise appropriate scanning and consequential therapy.  Sadly this resulted in the client’s condition becoming terminal much sooner than would otherwise have been the case.  Damages of £25,000.00 were recovered for pre-death pain and suffering and the family’s bereavement.
