Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant for Property Litigation Team – Bath

We require a full-time legal secretary/legal assistant to join our friendly and busy property litigation team. You will work alongside the head of department and one other solicitor in our Bath office.

Prior experience of working in a law firm is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. More important is your ability to provide excellent secretarial and administrative support, as well as deal sensitively with clients. The role includes:

  • Audio typing, collating enclosures for emails/letters, drafting documents accurately in accordance with fee earner instructions, and preparing bundles for the court and tribunal.
  • Handling new client enquiries under supervision, file opening, accurately undertaking due diligence checks, organising appointments, taking telephone messages and relaying messages to clients.
  • Dealing with administrative sections of the court and tribunal by telephone and in writing.
  • Managing diaries, including logging court deadlines and making appointments.
  • Preparing invoices, copying, filing and archiving.

Ideally, you will have the following skills:

  • A good understanding of Microsoft Word, Adobe Pro, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Fast, accurate audio typing skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • An ability to use a case management system.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills and telephone manner.

Salary negotiable dependent upon experience.

Part-Time Administration Assistant for Personal Injury Team – Swindon

We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Administration Assistant to provide support to our busy, friendly Personal Injury team, to be based in our Swindon office. The team comprises 4 senior solicitors who deal with complex and high-value injury claims. We are happy to discuss flexibility in terms of hours.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Preparing documentation bundles and e-bundles.
  • Some audio typing and preparing correspondence and documents from digital dictation.
  • Scanning documents and organising electronic files.
  • Answering/making telephone calls and dealing with general queries.
  • Setting up of new files/archiving of old files.
  • Ensuring client contact information is kept up to date and data is accurate.

Ideally, you will have the following skills:

  • A good understanding of Microsoft Word, Adobe Pro, Excel, and Outlook.
  • High levels of accuracy and a keen eye for detail.
  • An ability to use a case management system.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills and telephone manner.
  • An ability to work well in a team and at times work unsupervised with a proactive approach.

Some secretarial/administrative experience is desirable but not essential. Previous experience within personal injury or litigation is also desirable but again, not essential. Although the role is primarily based in Swindon, occasional attendance at other offices may be required. Salary negotiable.

Experienced Property Litigation Solicitor/CILEX – Swindon

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Property Litigation lawyer, to be based in Swindon. This is a new position as we look to expand our flourishing Property Litigation team beyond its current base in Bath.

Although you will have the opportunity to build and manage your own varied caseload of Property Litigation work, full support will be provided by the team. To this end, in recent years, we have invested heavily in IT.

Currently, our work covers a diverse range of adverse possession, boundaries, easements, restrictive covenants, co-ownership, commercial landlord and tenant, residential long leasehold disputes, leasehold enfranchisement, and residential possession proceedings. Cases are undertaken in both the Court and Property Tribunals.

As this is a new role, the ideal candidate is someone motivated in business development both internally and externally.

We see the position as predominantly based in our expanding offices in Swindon, although there is scope for some flexibility in terms of working from home. This is an exciting time for BLB as we focus on further growth and expansion in Swindon.

You will enjoy a genuinely interesting and varied range of residential property work, based in the centre of this World Heritage city.

Experience in handling a caseload of sales, purchases, re-mortgages and transfers of equity from instruction to post completion is essential, and strong client-facing skills.
