People often own property in joint names, whether as an unmarried couple, or business partners. If you own property jointly with somebody else, and you cannot agree what should happen to the property, where do you stand legally?
You might want to buy out your co owner, or to be bought out yourself. What if there have been unequal contributions towards the purchase price, or changes over time to the way the property has been used, or who pays the outgoings?
Working out who is entitled to what can be complex and stressful, especially if the joint owners have fallen out. In many cases we can assist you to find a solution with your co- owners through negotiation and mediation. However if that is not possible we have the expertise to represent you in a claim that the civil court defines the legal relationship and what must be done with the property.
